Savings Apps- My favorites and how to use them

I love to save money. I know some of my hobbies can be expensive (traveling, collecting craft supplies, and my love of technology), so saving money when I can makes it easier for me to do those things. It also makes me feel a little better about my chocolate covered cashew addiction, since they never go on sale.

Swagbucks

Swagbucks (referral link) is a site that allows you to earn points by doing surveys and playing games. They also have a shopping portal and a way to upload receipts to earn extra points. The first $25 gift card you earn a month is 12% off (2,200 points), and so each point is worth a bit more than 1 cent. I am a longtime user of this app (since 2012) and it’s paid for my Starbucks addiction. My favorite thing right now is the nightly trivia and downloading a new game for a month.

Fetch

Fetch (referral link, and you’ll get 1000 free points) has been my favorite app lately. You upload receipts for 25 points each, and some items give you bonuses. You can also have it scan your emails for online shopping receipts. 1000 points is about a dollar, though gift cards vary in “pricing.” I’ve found that a good redemption is Old Navy at 50,000 points ($50) or Shutterfly ($50) at 52,500.

Rakuten

Rakuten (referral link) is a cash back shopping portal. I’ve installed it on my browser, and when I go to shop, it (and swagbucks) pop up to remind me to activate it. If I know I’m going to be making a large purchase, I’ll use a site like cashbackmonitor to figure out what portal will pay out best. Rakuten is also nice because they will figure out which promo code will save you the most. It’s also a straight PayPal deposit every quarter, which is convenient.

Do you have any apps you like? I’m always willing to add to my collection.
